Prerequisites: Students must have a basic grasp on soldering and be comfortable with a torch.
This single day workshop will cover the techniques necessary to create a pair of one of a kind, kinetic earrings. Students will be walked through the steps of piercing geometric designs out of sterling sheet while being mindful of design mapping, soldering the cutouts to delicate tubing, constructing earwires, and gilding fine silver with 24k gold foil (keum boo). This is an intermediate class- students should be comfortable with the use of a torch and saw.
Instructor will provide: fully equipped soldering stations including all chemicals and compounds, flexshafts and accessories, templates, a few extra hand tools for student use, high quality handouts and kits containing all raw materials to make this project.
Students are responsible for bringing:
Saw frame with size 0 blades
Bench pin and clamp (I recommend a C-clamp or Bessey clamp (available at Amazon)
